makellos. Production – the best of both worlds.
makellos. (Japanese マーケロス) was founded in 2012 by Thomas Akiyama in Potsdam. Given his German-Japanese DNA, Akiyama always follows his plan to incorporate the best of both worlds into the products. So it’s only natural that titanium frames from makellos. carry the designation of origin “Made in Japan,” because the cradle of titanium eyewear production is in the Japanese city of Sabae (Fukui Prefecture). It is recognized that the world’s best titanium frames have been produced there for over 40 years. Leading international brands trust the Japanese craftsmanship tradition, because filigree frames with the highest precision have their origin there.
The “Made in Germany” label is also of central importance to makellos. The finest sheet material from the world’s leading manufacturer Mazzucchelli is used for production from cellulose acetate. Decades of experience are relied upon in the manufacture of eyewear in southern Germany. The result are noble acetate models – qualitatively on the highest level. In addition, from January 2023, makellos. relies on additive manufacturing technology from Germany. The SLS process creates filigree, resource-saving frames in lightweight construction “Made in Germany”.
